Oh, it’s delightful.
But…cheddar and pear? If you are weirded out by the idea of this combo, please just trust me on this one. It is a fall staple (umm…yes, pie can be a staple) in our house, and it’s what I brought to the family Thanksgiving meal. It was gobbled right up.
Cheddar Pear Pie
- 1 (9-inch) unbaked pastry shell
- 4 large ripe pears, peeled and thinly sliced
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
Topping:
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
1. Preheat oven to 425*F (220*C). In a bowl, combine pears, sugar, cornstarch, and salt. Spoon into unbaked pastry shell.
2. Combine topping ingredients until crumbly; sprinkle over filling.
3. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until crust is golden and cheese is melted. Cool on a wire rack for 15 minutes. Serve warm.
4. Store in the refrigerator.
Look at the yummy crumbles….mmm…..
Enjoy your Saturday!

This pie was flat amazing! Light, sweet and ridiculously delicious. Definitely a step up from apple pie.
