Interested in designing your own Christmas cards (or wedding invitations, or thank-you cards, etcetera! etcetera!…sorry…I watched The King and I over the weekend…) this year?
It’s not difficult, seriously. As long as you’ve got some software (I use Photoshop elements) and know how to surf the net, you can create snazzy designs. This is the monogram I worked up for the top left corner of my wedding invitations:

It’s nothing spectacular, but I am so glad I designed our invitations and programs – it makes me happy to look back at them and remember the time spent lining everything up, matching colors, and picking out special fonts.
If you are looking for fun monograms and drop caps (and tons more), check out the free (that’s right, free!) downloads at Briar Press. That’s where I got the A and J for our invites, and these puppies:

Think of all the fun you could have!
The Daily Drop Cap project by Jessica Hische is also a great site – colorful, free drop caps to spice up your blog or website. What do you think – would this work for a personal blog by my husband?

Maybe not…he’s kind of outdoorsy. Maybe this would be better:

Yes, big improvement.
Ah well. Hope you lovely readers can at least get some use out of these great free resources!
Much love,
