Walls Need Art

Charlie_Roberts_02

(Charlie Roberts)

I’ve mentioned my love of painting, and I know a few of you are artists (and actually sell your work – go you!). But come on, even if you don’t paint/draw/sculpt/cut-things-out-and-paste-things-onto-other-things, isn’t there something inside you that just resonates with a beautiful piece hanging on a wall?

Because I lack the proper fundage at this stage of life, I generally stick to decorating with my own paintings (I know, there’s something troubling about that), but I’ve also scored a bunch of  adorable Dutch farm scenes painted by my 90-year-old Grandma Sadie. So sweet, every one of them.

While these will do for now in my little green duplex of love, someday I would love to support artists and have a thriving, growing collection. I love sites like The Jealous Curator – where I get to see work by new (to me) artists pretty much daily.

Spend some time there, and you’ll learn that art doesn’t have to be serious:

It can remind you of a memory:

Or it can teach you to think outside the frame (and on the wall like Charlotte Mann!):

I also love BOOOOOOOM! and poppytalk and the photos at seeing is stealing.

Where do you get your visual inspiration? What would you love to hang on your walls? Wouldn’t it be sweet if Charlotte Mann would come and “decorate” your rooms without a piece of furniture?

Have a beautiful Tuesday,
