Last weekend, my dear friend Jana and I met up for a spontaneous shopping spree at the outlet mall nearby. We spent way too much moneytime there, but we came away with some fabulous fall items.
I didn’t come away, however, with a certain scarf. A certain white/green/black patterned wool scarf from the Banana Republic outlet. It was beautiful, let me tell you. I wore it around the store, tried it on with some sweaters, and kept repeating in a slightly irritating nervous-laughter voice, “Haha…I’ll put it down in just a sec. I’m just going to hold it for a little while longer. Haha.”
You see, it was not on sale. It was about $40. And I just don’t spend $40 on a scarf. Do you? Am I being ridiculous? Clearly, since I am still thinking about it a week later, I am suffering from reverse buyer’s remorse. Sad. So, I spent the morning trying to find it online. To no stinkin’ avail. I guess outlet pieces aren’t featured on store websites, or on the internet at all, so I can’t show you the actual scarf that stole my heart.
It was sort of like this, but not all houndstoothy, and the pattern was funkier:

The pattern was more like this, but smaller, and less silky (though that was the expression on my face the whole time I wore it):

And, just in case you are tempted to do a google image search to help me find it: don’t. Just don’t. Strange things happen when you image search Banana Republic scarves:

Rest assured, that is NOT what the scarf looks like.
So, darlings, should I forget about it and move on with my life? Or should I drive the 25 minutes to the outlet mall right this minute and see if she is still there, calling my name?
Tell me what to do. And stop looking at those legs.
Love,

go get it!
it’s fall and fall is better with scarfs and black turtlenecks!

GO GET IT! You will not regret it.
