What does a teapot say to its lover?

Answer: Oh, Darjeeling!
Hahahahahahahaa. Ha. Eh. Hmm…
As a follow-up to K’s post about everyone’s favorite, coffee, I thought I should give some props to its ancient and adored relative: tea. Maybe coffee/espresso is all the rage, but tea has always had its place and isn’t losing steam. (wow – sorry).
Anyway – every morning at work, I boot up the ol’ laptop, go away for ten minutes (it’s an old laptop, okay?) and make myself some tea. It’s calming, smells good, and warms me up in my cold little cubicle.
Generally, I have cheap simple tastes. I love this guy:
I have also ventured into the variety packs of herbal tea – but I hate it when I use up all the good ones and get stuck with the gross flavors (lemon zinger anyone? really?).
In addition to tasting smooth and delicious (as long as you don’t steep it too long; I tend toward “less is more” with steeping), tea can make a classy gift. I’ve always loved the packaging of tea forte teas:
Also, sidenote: while they smell so good and seem more sophisticated, I’m still sort of weirded out by the loose-leaf variety:

Seriously – how does it work? I have no shame in admitting I don’t really know how to use this stuff. Is there some sort of infuser? Or do you just sip and pray that you don’t end up eating a leaf? Sip and pray, that’s probably it.
Any tea drinkers wanna come out of the woodwork? What’s your favorite? Do you have a cutesy little tea set like mine from the top of the post (thanks, honey!)? Have you accidentally eaten tea leaves?
Steep dreams,

My husband and I have a little heart-shaped mesh thing (i guess it’s an infuser?) that we got at World Market for two bucks. He’s more of a tea fan than I am… & thus has ventured into the loose leaf variety. I’m just barely friends with regular old fruity teas at this point, but I’m workin’ on it!
I’m a big tea fan. I haven’t tried making loose leaf myself yet but I sample it every time I’m in the Jordan Creek mall at Teavana. Luke was just given the birthday gift idea of a teapot from that store so I could try it myself!! We’ll see if I get it…….
I love loose leaf–once you convert you’ll never go back (think folgers versus locally roasted–but to a much greater extent). I have a 2 cup teapot with a mesh strainer inside–same that our local JH uses (the local coffee company you formerly worked for, J). I’m surprised loose leaf freaks you out–it’s quite yummy. Come over soon and we can brew ourselves a cuppa.
Happy sipping,
Ab
I am a HUGE tea fanatic as well, especially green teas because of their health benefits. Along with tea infusers, you can also buy do-it-yourself tea bags at most coffee shops. You simply pour a little of the loose leaf tea into the bag, fold it over, and voila! Delicious.
So, I don’t really like tea that much, but I wanted to put a plug in for the Tea Forte holiday collection – you MUST try some when it comes out again around Christmas time. I loved it. And like I said, I don’t even really like tea.
And Mike also really digs the Lipton green tea with honey.
