More Beautiful Bags

DSC_0002

While K’s beautiful bag is undoubtedly beautiful, I have a few of my own beloveds.

My modus operandi in buying purses is usually “Hey, it’s cute! I don’t care if it’s cheaply made. I’ll just ruin it anyway.” This theory was acutely tested in March when A. and I went to New York City for a business/pleasure trip. On our first flight, I somehow dumped orange juice over the entire contents of my adorable purse (a medium-sized, medium-shine fake leather bag with an adorable floppy bow from EXPRESS). By that night, it was starting to smell. Nasty. It was time for a new purse.

Enter, my darling giant:

Walking around Rockefeller Plaza in the frigid March air, this shining beauty beckoned me from the windows of Ann Taylor Loft. I went in, petted it, walked around, aggravated A., petted it some more, and finally decided it was too expensive.

Then we walked to H&M, and I bought a cheap, white purse.

Then we walked back to Ann Taylor Loft, and I bought the giant.

Then we walked back to H&M, and I returned the white scrap. It was the right thing to do.

And guess what? If you are insane and need even more room, the ends unsnap, fold out, and voilĂ !

Oh, how I love it. And, you know what? Since it was so much more expensive than any of my previous babies, I have treated it much better. We’re together for the long haul, I believe.

Which is not to say that I don’t cheat every once in a while:

I saw this lovely lady in Target a month or so ago, and my heart responded to the siren call of pleather. I needed a little sunshine.

And look – purple insides! It would have been wrong to say no.

So…let’s hear it. Are you emotionally attracted to cheapo bags? Or, do you sigh softly and caress your $445 Kate Spade at night before you say your prayers? Heh heh…right.

I have one Kate Spade bag that I LOVE. It is beautiful and functions for a variety of occassions. I also got it about half off from Rue La La. I don’t forsee parting with it anytime soon.
