And now, for the first time in Homage history, K posts a recipe!

Is there anything better than warm chocolate chip cookies? I can’t think of anything. Well, maybe fresh chocolate chip cookie dough……but I digress. I know what you’re thinking: K, everyone has made chocolate chip cookies at least once. We know you don’t spend a lot of time in the kitchen but, come on, at least give us something original. I hear what you’re saying, but read on and you will thank me later. I present the recipe for some of the best chocolate chip cookies I have ever eaten, courtesy of a coworker. He brought these for one of our MANY food-days (maybe that’s why my weight never drops….) and everyone RAVED about them.

Makes about 4 dozen medium sized cookies

4 1/2 cups flour

1/2 cup sugar

1 1/2 cup brown sugar

4 eggs

4 cups chocolate chips

2 tsp vanilla

2 tsp baking soda

2 small packages vanilla instant pudding

2 cups butter (softened)

Preheat oven to 350

In a large mixing bowl, beat together sugars, vanilla, butter, and pudding mix. Stir in eggs. Add flour and baking soda. Mix in chocolate chips.

Spoon onto non-stick (ungreased) baking sheet and bake for ten minutes.

Here is a progress shot of the batch I made this weekend:

Note: I used milk chocolate AND white chocolate chips (fancy, I know). Also, I greased the cookie sheet because I do not read carefully. They turned out fine.

This is the only photo I have because I spent the 15 minutes prior to this shot cleaning cookie dough off every surface in my kitchen. You should NEVER turn the mixer on when the beaters are not in the bowl and are coated with pre-flour dough. Yet another reason why I do not spend much time in the kitchen.

What is your favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe/tip/secret ingredient?

Let’s hear them – it’s Monday, and I’m going to need a hefty dose of chocolate to get me through!

Your recipe sounds yummy. I might have to try them this week!
The best recipe secret I ever discovered included COFFEE grounds. The best cookies ever and highly addictive. I can’t stop eating these when I make them. :)

    K & J,

Instant vanilla pudding is my secret weapon as well! I also usually use part butter part crisco (butter for flavor, crisco for chewiness). I must confess, I have this same recipe and the cookies usually dont make it past a few minutes out of the oven. To darn good.

YUM! I may have to go make them right now…

and being the obnoxious english teacher that I am, I have to correct my “to” in the sentence “to darn good” and make it “too.” :)

K & J, I look forward to reading this blog. I check it daily. I must add my very best cookie baking tip. (I learned this from a male!) If you love soft chewy cookies, they are best when mixed by hand. So put away the Kitchenaide, soften your butter to room temp and get out the wooden spoon. I cannot wait to try this recipe.
