Next stop on our tour….

As promised, here is a look inside our homes. Not designer and definitely works in progress, but that’s the point, right? :)

This is the little green bungalow where K and G reside. Why yes, we do have approximately 1 million hostas. Please PLEASE contact me if you would like some (and, you know, you live in the area).

The living room is a long rectangle that stretches across the front of the house. It presents somewhat of a challenge as the front door is in the middle. The only solution I could come up with is two separate seating areas, though we never use the left side …  I’m still kicking around options in my head and I would LOVE any input you have! This is the right side:

(Edit by J: Isn’t K’s house amazing?! She is certainly the design-brains behind Homage, if you hadn’t already figured that out!)

And the view to the left:

This is the little green…umm…duplex (how chic)…where J an A live. Maybe the outside isn’t full of character, but we are happily focusing on what we can do with the inside for now!

(Edit by K: don’t let J fool you. Her house is COMPLETELY adorable!)

Our living room, dining area, and kitchen are all sort of one open space. Here is the view of our comfy couch from the front entry hallway:

And, yes. That is Murray scratching his ear. We’re all about fancy photos here at Homage.

This is the view when standing in the dining area, with the two square windows that stole my heart:

And this, this is my problem area (aside from my mid-section, which is an entirely different and more depressing post): The Mantel of Shame

I love all of the objects…separately. The cute houses from Things With Wings are beloved, as is the oddly shaped vase…but…I know they don’t work together. I kind of just set everything up there once when I was dusting, and then didn’t put them away. That is design genius, isn’t it? K is no doubt shaking her head at this point.

My mantel makes me feel like this:

At least I have my red wall to console me. (Ignore the boxes…there is a pretty basket there now.)

Next on the tour will be kitchens. Stay tuned! And….offer suggestions for my mantel. It’s your civic duty.

Love,

You both have lovely houses and very well put together. Just like the two of you! Although I would like to say that I really like our big kitchen counter in our little apartment. It is big so you can eat on it and also have a lot of space to spread out when cooking. It also has a nice view of the living room and tv because lets face it, I am ALWAYS watching TV when I am cooking.

i love your blog. and the pics of your homes are fabulous…your homes are just that too! i’m so bored with ours…but my creativity flew out the window with my energy awhile back. anyway, i love the freshness of your places.
j – i can kinda see something on your mantel that is alone, tall and quirky, like a vase, possibly with something willowy flowing out the top.
k – love your calm, quaint kitchen…looks like a fun place to catch up on dirty dishes!
